40 SECONDS TO GLORY: BMX TRAINING FOR ATHLETES

BMX TRAINING e-BOOK

With BMX being included in the Olympic Games, the general racing population has begun to understand the importance of training.  The days of being able to get by with minimal effort are all but gone.  The bar has been raised across the board, in every class, and everyone is looking for the way to the next level.

The information that has been available to the BMX racer has been very limited.  Until now, there have been no resources available for the aspiring rider that don’t come with a premium monthly price tag.  Those who can’t afford to “train like the Olympians,” must try to wade through the B.S., decipher the tech-talk, and tip toe around fragile egos on internet forums, yet still find themselves confused about what to do.  Here is the answer to your prayers…

FORWARD:

I am one of those fortunate few who was around in those very early days of BMX racing when the sport was brand new, the excitement level was high, and the future was wide open.  It was during those days that my love of cycling was formed and that passion has remained with me throughout my life.  Now, as an “elder statesman,” I get to watch as the sport of BMX grows internationally with its inclusion into the Olympic Games, World Championships, and worldwide exposure from all forms of media.

I met Paul Caldwell in 2002 when he, like I, was drawn back to this sport we both loved as children.  He was getting back on the bike as a racer and from the moment I met him, I knew something was a little different about him.  From his first day back in competition, and after nearly 20 years off the bike, he came back with a vengeance rarely seen.  He shredded the competition and began to dominate the sport of BMX and made an immediate national impact.

I was interested in getting to know Paul both as a person and as an athlete.  Over the years, we have a friendship that has remained constant and is based on profound mutual respect.  He is one of those guys you can not talk to for a couple of years and then in about five minutes, feel totally comfortable around.  When I heard he was writing a book on BMX, training, and life, I knew that it would be a masterpiece before he shredded the first piece of paper.  His commitment to training, preparation, and excellence is admirable, and his work here in this book will help anyone in any endeavor, not just BMX.  He states that the secret to winning is in the preparation, and you can tell from these writings that Paul Caldwell is just that….Prepared To Win!

This book, above all else, is about finding that person inside of you that is waiting to be set free.  Sometimes it is difficult and we need a good, swift, kick in the pants.  This book is for you!  Paul Caldwell came onto the BMX scene like a violent storm and made progress like we had never seen before.  YOU can too.  The secret is right here in your hands, ready for application.  This is a masterpiece, and you can be too.  And isn’t it time that YOU win, that YOU get the trophy and the recognition, and that YOU can look back and say, “Job well done”?

Go for it!

INTRODUCTION:

BMX TRAINING DESIGN

The fact that you have purchased this book means that you are interested in improving your performance as a BMX racer.  After reading this manual and gathering an understanding of the basic physical and technical requirements of BMX racing, I am confident that you will be able to plan and navigate your own training process.

Instead of giving you a template to follow blindly, I am going to give you the tools to successfully design your own training program, according to your own specific needs.  Because training is a process rather than a set “program,” it’s important that the athlete understand some basic information about the process.  This understanding will enable you to assess, dissect and comprehend your training needs and successfully design your training process.

I have outlined this information in an easy to understand, 8-Step process and included the assessments that you will need.  In the final chapters of this book, I have also included several basic training templates that have been designed to address the needs and correct the deficiencies that are common among BMX racers of different abilities.

Everything you need to successfully plan your BMX training process is within the pages of this book.  After reading this training manual, you will have all of the tools you need to design your own training plan, as well as access to the resources that will answer any questions that you may have.

Before we proceed, there are a few fundamental truths that I want you to understand.  The first is the need to keep things as simple as possible.  The basics, done consistently and intensely, are all you’ll really need.  The majority of BMX racers in the U.S., regardless of their skill ability, are relative beginners when it comes to strength training.  Even many AA’s are in their infancy when it comes to strength training.

This book was written for those who are looking to take the confusion out of training for BMX racing and start getting results. Author and BMX pro, Paul Caldwell, has spent the last 23 years training athletes. Within this book, he has laid out an easy to follow blue-print for any serious BMX racer who wishes to improve their results. From the aspiring top amateur who wishes to raise the bar on their training to compete for a national title, to the de-trained “old-schooler” who needs to shed a few pounds to improve their health as well as their racing results, this book has something for everyone.

The coolest part about this project is the follow-up.  Everyone who purchases “40 Seconds to Glory…” will have access to our exclusive web-forum, so questions may be answered concerning athletic assesment, program design and execution.  Members will also have access to our media sources for exercise description and demonstration.  It’s like having a virtual BMX performance enhancement coach, especially designed for your own needs.  All for only $25!
